Terms and Community Rules

1. Your agreement with Pubbie

By creating an account or using Pubbie, you agree to these Terms and Community Rules and acknowledge the Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Pubbie is currently a UK beta. Features may be incomplete, unavailable or changed while the product is tested.

2. Who may use Pubbie

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• You must be legally capable of entering into this agreement.
• You must provide accurate registration information and keep your account secure.
• You may hold only accounts that genuinely belong to you and must not share access credentials.
• You must use Pubbie only for lawful personal purposes and in accordance with these terms.

If Pubbie reasonably believes an account belongs to someone under 18, access may be suspended while the matter is reviewed.

3. What Pubbie provides

Pubbie helps adults arrange and coordinate small group meetings at pubs. Users can search for Pubbies, host plans, join eligible groups, exchange group messages, connect through private friend codes and submit feedback.

Pubbie is not the pub, host, event organiser, employer, travel provider or supervisor of an in-person meeting. Pubs and users remain independent from Pubbie. A listing does not mean Pubbie endorses or has inspected a venue or person.

4. Hosting a Pubbie

Hosts must choose a genuine public pub, provide an accurate future date and time, select an appropriate group limit and describe the plan honestly. Hosts should monitor the group chat, communicate material changes and cancel promptly if the plan will not take place.

Hosting does not give authority over other users. Hosts must not charge attendance fees, promote a business, collect money on Pubbie or use a Pubbie for recruitment, campaigning, dating solicitation or commercial events without Pubbie’s written permission.

5. Joining and group preferences

Join only when you genuinely intend to attend and leave promptly if your plans change. Mixed, women-only and men-only options help users choose a setting in which they are comfortable. Eligibility is based on the gender choice on your Pubbie profile: women-only is available to profiles set to woman, men-only to profiles set to man, and mixed groups are available to all eligible profiles.

Do not misrepresent yourself, create another account or evade a block to enter a group for which you are not eligible.

6. Community rules

You must treat other people respectfully. The following are prohibited:

• Harassment, stalking, threats, intimidation, bullying or unwanted sexual behaviour.
• Hate, discrimination or abuse based on a protected or personal characteristic.
• Violence, encouragement of harm, exploitation or instructions for illegal activity.
• Impersonation, deception, scams, fraud or deliberately false safety reports.
• Spam, unauthorised advertising, mass invitations or commercial solicitation.
• Sharing another person’s private information, image or messages without permission.
• Sexual content, intimate images, content involving children or any unlawful content.
• Weapons, illegal drugs or conduct that breaches a venue’s rules or licensing conditions.
• Interfering with Pubbie’s security, scraping the service or attempting unauthorised access.

7. Messages and content

You keep ownership of content you submit. You give Pubbie a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, store, reproduce and display that content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the service and comply with law. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except where copies must remain in backups, safety records or legal evidence.

You are responsible for having the rights and permissions needed for anything you submit. Group messages should relate to the relevant Pubbie. Do not assume another member will keep information shared in a group confidential.

8. Meeting safely

In-person meetings involve independent adults and carry ordinary social and travel risks. Use your judgement, meet in the named public venue, arrange your own safe travel, tell someone where you are going and protect your belongings. You never have to stay if you feel uncomfortable.

Pubbie does not conduct criminal-record, identity or background checks during the beta. Profile-complete or host labels only describe activity within Pubbie; they are not safety guarantees. In an emergency, contact the police or local emergency services first, then report the matter to Pubbie when safe.

9. Alcohol and venue rules

Buying or drinking alcohol is never required. You are responsible for your own choices, conduct and compliance with applicable law. Pubs may refuse entry or service and may change opening hours, accessibility, menus or events. Check important requirements directly with the venue.

10. Cancellations and attendance

Hosts may cancel and attendees may leave. Pubbie does not guarantee that a Pubbie will happen, that a particular person will attend or that a pub will have space. Cancelled group chats may remain readable to members for coordination, safety and record purposes.

11. Reports, blocking and enforcement

You can report a Pubbie or user, block another account and send safety concerns through the app. Pubbie may review relevant account information, group membership and messages when reasonably necessary to assess a report, protect users or comply with law.

Depending on the circumstances, Pubbie may warn a user, remove content, limit a feature, cancel a Pubbie, suspend an account or permanently remove access. Serious or repeated breaches may be referred to a venue, platform provider or law-enforcement body where lawful and appropriate. Decisions will be made using available information and proportionate judgement.

During beta, request a review of an enforcement decision through Send feedback to Pubbie and include enough information to identify the decision.

12. Friend codes and connections

Friend codes and QR codes are intended to be shared directly. Do not publish another person’s code without permission or use codes to build unsolicited contact lists. A Pubbie friendship does not create private direct messaging in the current product.

13. Pub and product feedback

Pub ratings and written pub feedback are private within the MVP. Pubbie may analyse them to improve the product and understand venue experiences. Product and safety feedback may be reviewed by people working on Pubbie. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information about another person.

14. Third-party services

Pubbie relies on third-party hosting, authentication, mapping, location, email and notification services. Links to maps or pub information take you to services governed by their own terms and privacy notices. Pubbie is not responsible for independent third-party content or availability, although this does not affect rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

15. Pubbie’s intellectual property

Pubbie’s name, branding, interface, software and original content belong to Pubbie or its licensors. These terms give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the beta. They do not transfer intellectual-property ownership to you.

16. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the beta available but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Pubbie may maintain, change or discontinue beta features. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will give reasonable notice where practicable and may ask you to accept updated terms.

17. Responsibility and liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory consumer rights.

Subject to that, Pubbie is responsible only for losses that are a foreseeable result of Pubbie breaching these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. Pubbie is not responsible for losses caused by another user, a pub, an independent map or service provider, inaccurate user-supplied information, your failure to follow reasonable safety guidance, or events outside Pubbie’s reasonable control.

Pubbie is provided for personal use. We are not responsible for business losses, loss of profit, business interruption or lost business opportunity arising from personal use of the beta.

18. Suspending, leaving and deleting an account

You can stop using Pubbie at any time and request account deletion in Settings. Pubbie may restrict or suspend access while investigating a safety, security or legal concern. We may end access for a serious or repeated breach, unlawful use, risk to others or necessary closure of the service.

Terms that logically need to continue—including intellectual property, content responsibility, safety records, disputes and liability provisions—survive account closure.

19. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you retain any mandatory protections and may be entitled to bring proceedings in your home courts. Please contact Pubbie first so we can try to resolve a concern informally.

20. Contact

During private beta, contact Pubbie through Send feedback to Pubbie. Formal legal entity, postal and email contact details must be added before wider public launch.
