Making a pub plan easier

Fancy the pub, but no one's free?

Pubbie helps you find people who are heading to a pub near you. Join an existing Pubbie, or choose a pub, date and time and host your own.

How it works

From an idea to an actual plan.

  1. 1

    Create an account

Tell us a little about yourself and where you're based.

  2. 2

    Search an area

Look near home or somewhere else in the UK that you plan to be.

  3. 3

    Join or host

Join an existing group or choose a pub and organise your own Pubbie.

  4. 4

    Head to the pub

Use the group conversation to coordinate, then meet everyone at the agreed time.

Why Pubbie exists

It gets harder to meet people as life gets busier.

Work, family, relationships and everyday responsibilities take up time. Friends move away, people settle in new places, and arranging something becomes more complicated than it used to be.

Sometimes you want to get out of the house, watch the football, play cards, have something to eat or talk to someone over a drink. The people you already know may simply not be available.

Pubbie makes it easier to go from thinking, “I'd quite like to go to the pub,” to actually going.

A reason to head out

A Pubbie can be whatever the group needs that day.

  • 01Watch the match
  • 02Meet people after moving
  • 03Have dinner after work
  • 04Find a pub quiz team
  • 05Play cards or darts
  • 06Spend an evening with locals

The bigger picture

Bringing people back together in real life.

Communities grow when people have opportunities to spend time with one another. That becomes harder when families spread out, people move for work or housing, and much of everyday life happens online.

Pubbie uses the convenience of online coordination to create more opportunities for people to meet face to face. Those meetings can introduce neighbours, bring different generations together and help people find common ground with someone they may never otherwise have met.

A good conversation and an enjoyable evening still matter, even when people never meet again.

Why pubs

A place the community already shares.

Pubs already exist at the centre of villages, towns and city neighbourhoods. People go there to eat, talk, watch sport, play games and spend time around others.

Using the places a community already has helps people meet nearby and keeps those shared spaces part of local life.

Questions

Frequently asked

What is a Pubbie?

A Pubbie is a small group of people meeting at a particular pub, on a particular date and at a particular time.

Do I need to know anyone before joining?

No. You can join by yourself. The host and other members are visible inside the Pubbie before the meeting.

Do I have to drink alcohol?

No. People can order whatever they like. A Pubbie can involve food, sport, games, conversation or simply spending some time out of the house.

Why is there a women-only option?

Some women feel more comfortable meeting a new group in a women-only setting. Women-only Pubbies are available only to profiles registered as women and are not shown to other users.

How does Pubbie approach safety?

Pubbies take place in public venues and groups are kept small. Members can see who is attending, use the group conversation and report or block another user. You should still use your judgement, tell someone where you are going and leave any situation where you feel uncomfortable.

Is Pubbie free?

Yes. Pubbie is free for users.

Can I use Pubbie while travelling?

Yes. During the beta you can search another UK location or create a Pubbie somewhere in the UK that you plan to visit.

What happens if the host cancels?

Members receive a notification and the group conversation becomes read-only.
